Each sessions started with an explanation of why we were at the school and the introduction of the members from the Uni Dodgeball team.
Next we performed a 3 on 3 match. This was to demonstrate to the pupils how dodgeball can be a fun and exciting game, and also really good for you due to the fast nature of it. The demonstration was performed in front of both the boys and the girls.
Following this the pupils had a chance to ask some questions to the dodgeball team. Typical questions were:
- When did you start playing dodgeball?
- Does the Uni team play in a league?
After this the girls went to a seperate hall and played dodgeball, however we werent involved in this as it was decided that it would work better if done with boys and girls seperate.
There were two dodgeball courts set up so the pupils were divided in half, and then each court had 4 teams. These teams followed a round robin format so played every other team at least twice. This lasted until there was 10 mins of the session left.
For the last 10 minutes the court was made into one large court and a huge game of about 15 on 15 took place.
