Dodgeball session 4

Unfortunantly there were only 4 participants attending this session.   With this being the case it was difficult to follow the session plan as more participants were needed, so the session had to be adapted on the spot.  With this being the case Paul did a great job at getting the children as active as possible, and still giving them the chance to play dodgeball in a game situation.  To make this happen, Oliver, Jack and Callum acted as particiapnts and were used as targets for the children to throw the dodgeballs at, which the children seemed to enjoy.  We are hoping that at the next session there is a bigger turnout, as its more fun for the pupils and for us.

Even with the small turnout we tried to make it as active as possible.  Keeping children active has some huge benefits for them:

  • Physically active and fit children tend to have better academic achievement, better school attendance and fewer disciplinary problems.
  • Allocating time for daily physical education does not hurt academic performance, and regular exercise may improve students’ concentration and cognitive functioning.
  • In some cases, more time in physical education leads to improved grades and standardized test scores.
  • Physical activity breaks can improve cognitive performance and classroom behavior.
